NarrowHighway

A parable — Lonely christ

A traveler walked a long road and saw no one. He was sure he was alone, for the road was empty and the sky was wide. As he walked he heard his own footsteps doubled. When he stopped, the footsteps stopped. When he walked, they walked. He had been accompanied since the first mile and had only mistaken the second footfall for an echo of his own. Ask yourself: What footfall have you been calling an echo? GOD — wait. Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end. The accompaniment is older than your noticing. (A Narrow Highway original teaching parable — not a parable of Jesus; a made story that carries a true edge.)
