The periodic table — the map of the elements
118 elements, ordered by proton count, and their properties RECUR in periods — the single most predictive table in science. Sealed in-domain: carbon is element 6, symbol C (https://narrowhighway.com/s/54db514fbdd51c90cad455bc773f8152da3b3eb6a53119da6ddb670c9464e23b). Mendeleev (1869) trusted the pattern so far he left GAPS and predicted the missing elements' properties; they were found. The octet rule — atoms seek eight outer electrons — explains why sodium (1 spare) and chlorine (1 short) snap together into salt. Carbon at 6, with exactly four bonds, is why it builds the endless chains of life. The table is DISCOVERED nature (measured weights, real elements), not derived — but its periodicity is the fingerprint of the quantum shells beneath.
