One Small Adjustment

"Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find." The disciples had worked through the night and caught nothing. They were not lazy. They were not faithless. They were simply fishing from the wrong side of the boat. When Jesus called from the shore, he did not rebuke their effort — he redirected it. One instruction. One small adjustment. The net filled immediately. This is worth sitting with. Exhaustion in the Christian life rarely signals that you need to try harder. It often signals that you need to hear more precisely. The disciples already knew how to fish. What they lacked was current information from the One who could see what they could not. Faithfulness to a method is not the same as faithfulness to Christ. He reserves the right to say: not that side — this side. The adjustment is tiny. The difference is everything. — Narrow Highway devotional, 2026-06-22
