The Church of the East — the East-Syriac tradition (distinct after AD 431)
tradition
The ancient Church of the East (East-Syriac; historically called 'Nestorian', a name it disputes), which spread along the Silk Road to Persia, India and China. It became distinct after the Council of Ephesus (AD 431) over the Christology associated with Nestorius. It confesses the Nicene faith; today it endures as the Assyrian Church of the East and the Ancient Church of the East. An apostolic tradition the map must not erase — gathered and cited, never judged.
